Sherrill Escalates Terror Against Immigrant Defenders @ Death Camp: NJ / Dem Co-Sponsorship for the Terror Inside and Outside Delaney Draw Battle Lines Clearly: Weapons of War Unleashed, Defenders Shot and Brutalized
FightBackBetter for now, clearly and unequivocally condemns the attack on the defenders of immigrants at Delaney Hall and the Mutual Aid organizations by Mikie Sherrill, Office Attorney General Davenport and the NJ Democratic Party. They are escalating with war force assault including semi lethal flash bang grenades with protesters, including Charlene Walker being struck by bullets. Sherrill, her entire administration and her supporters, her political party are participating in Trump’s National Security Presidential Memorandum 7 which targets dissidents who disagree with the Trump Administration, including “Extremist on Immigration” as if WE are “domestic terrorist” with legal and physical, potentially lethal harm. Any hope that Sherrill would protect NJ from Trump extreme violence is now dashed – Sherrill has escalated the violence way beyond what Trump and ICE are dishing out daily. The attack is Sherrill’s endorsement of the conditions inside the death camp.
Sherrill and NJSP also forces destruction of mutual aid tents used to share clothing and other needs with visiting families of immigrants.
The Sherrill plan was to use forceful police action to cage the protesters – basically so that in order to “protest” the mass murder in process at Delaney, participants would have to be in a metal cage of barricades away from the gates of the death factory through which ICE kidnaps NJ residents and also transfers captives to other death camp locations or ICE agents deploy for more community attacks. The protesters opposed being caged and that is not considered protected free speech – that is caged activity.
We encourage everybody to be steadfast in resistance. It was a brutal attack but a win that the opponents of state murder occurring inside this facility refused to be caged and barricaded by the Sherrill – Trump axis now governing on the immigrant issue. Sherrill is openly complicit in the NSPM-7 designs of the Trump Administration to use violence against his opponents – Sherrill is pulling the trigger for Trump and ICE quite literally as people have been shot!
For now we are gathering the statements and videos and we will continue to flesh out a complete statement of condemnation and the kind of actions that are appropriate in the now newly defined dymanics of the Trump – ICE – Sherrill – NJSP war on the NJ people.

As an Executive Director of a leading immigrant rights organization in NJ, I am appalled by the war zone I lived last night with organizers who’s main priority are families in detention and deportation proceedings. This is a huge setback for our state.

State Troopers and Newark PD are “protecting” ICE from peaceful protesters. Mikie Sherill and the NJ government are now the bouncers for ICE at Delaney Hall.
This is a disgrace and needs to end immediately along with the human rights abuses taking place in Delaney. The demands of the detainees must be met.
And we must anchor the demands of the detainees in all of our actions and always make sure we are moving in the direction of their freedom.

As the night fell on what had been a peaceful day at Delaney, just after labor organizer Ryan Novosielski reported in to All Politics R Local from on the ground, the NJ State Police vamped on the protesters and families…in full riot gear…and on horseback!…Deploying tear gas and more dangerously rubber bullets!…Not ICE! The NJ State Police! This footage is from Zellie Imani of BLM Paterson. Zellie was maced. Charlene Walker of Faith in New Jersey survived being hit by a rubber bullet!
This action must be condemned to the fullest!

Governor Mikie Sherrill you and Attorney General Jennifer Davenport are directly responsible for allowing the State Trooper to violate our constitutional rights and peaceful right to assemble. You allowed them to shoot rubber bullets at us, spray us with pepper spray, hit us with flash grenades, and smoke grenades. They did this to innocent young people, the elderly, students and community and faith leaders. This is a continuation of the New Jersey State Police’s racist anti-Black history and a lack of accountability. Today, Governor Mikie Sherrill was in solitary with fascism and authoritarianism and turned on the citizens and families of New Jersey. We don’t need that complicit leadership in New Jersey.
