Analysis of NJ Dem Primary: 3 Peace Block, 5 Israel First, 1 Critical, Others Quiet on Issue
NJ’s Democratic Congressional candidates nominated in the primary of June 2 2026 are dominated by Israel First and otherwise pro-Israel incumbents and pro-war or “war silent” newcomers. Of the 12 nominated in NJ, unfortunately 9 are unlikely to work legislatively to end the US – Israel war in the Middle East, the attempt to combine the US Pentagon with the Israel IDF, unbridled aid to genocidal and war expanding Israel, to prevent Israel’s participation of residents and citizens of the USA, etc. There are 3 candidates who were nominated who have a decent track record challenging war and genocide from a congressional standpoint in McIver’s case and in statements in their campaigns in Mejia and Hamawy’s case.
We in NJ have an obligation to do better with our vote. We can not continue to support Israel First and other Israel supporting candidates – Israel and genocide are survival issues. In the US congress representatives are approximately 80% obscenely influenced by flagrant pay offs from pro-Israel lobbyists. That is how the lives of the people in the USA are subordinated for the genocidal and murderous interests of Greater Israel. The Democratic Party of NJ – as borne out with the results of this primary are BLUE AND WHITE first – they are not “BLUE NO MATTER WHO”.
We can not support candidates connected to Israel and expect anything to change – with Trump MAGA control of the nation the AIPAC Democratic Party caucus are always willing to put Israel and Trump ahead of the needs of our people here.
We SHOULD pressure the 9 pro-Israel or silent on the issue candidates but it is unlikely we will get anywhere with them. They made their choices and chose their sides.
The following is the breakdown of NJ’s votes per this editor. If you have other information that corrects anything we presented – we welcome clarification. You can e-mail feedback to Editor@FightBackBetter.com .
Of the 12 winners of the Democratic Primary held on June 4 in NJ:
5 are Israel First candidates.
CD 1 Norcross, CD 3 Conaway, CD 5 Gottheimer, CD 6 Pallone, CD 9 Pou
Of the 5, Pou is the only one that is facing a strong challenge since she barely won in 2024. However the 2025 Gubernatorial results tilted greatly to Sherrill so it is possible Pou will win without such a severe challenge.
3 are potentially Peace Block proponents:
CD 10 McIver, CD 11 Mejia, CD 12 Hamawy
They are all likely to prevail based on 2024 performance in those LDs.
Menendez, CD 8 as of 2025 this editor would place him in the Israel First but in recent months he has been somewhat critical of Israel and he has voted with the Democratic Party on several measures where the NJ Israel First block voted with the Trump Pedo GOP.
Hopefully McIver, Mehia and Hamawy can prevail upon Menendez the importance of opposing Israel especially given the current war the USA and Israel have aggressed against the nation and people of Iran.
In CD 6 and CD 8 the pro Israel candidates faced significant challenges but were able to capture around 2/3 of the Democratic Party voters. Those margins define the challenge in those CDs in future efforts of the kind of voting power they need to win over to prevail. They need to gain about 20% of the Democratic primary voting strength in their respective districts in the future.
Of the 3 Republican Congressional Districts it could be said that CD 7, currently held by Tom Kean Jr. is in play. He won by about 5K in 2024. He has been missing in action and Republican strength has slipped. Unfortunately his challenger Bennett appears to be hawking herself as a warrior touting her military experience as a false asset for government – almost a Mikie Sherrill prototype with her helicopter pilot schtick. We had a taste of Sherrill’s love of violence outside of Delaney Hall recently. Bennett’s site does not have any critical statement about genocide, Israel, the US – Israel war on Iran or anything to indicate she cares at all about the mayhem US and Israel brings to the planet with constant genocidal warfare and threats.
The other two challengers, Mullock in CD 2 and Peace in CD 4 do not have any indication on their campaign sites of caring about the war, genocide, Israel, international concerns of any sort. FightBackBetter will reach out to them to see if they are still working on those issues or if they are just acquiescing to the constant war churn of the USA – willing to agree with the most extreme war making of the Trump administration and let US continue to subordinate to Israel. Silence is the voice of complicity – I remember having those buttons in the 80s – it still is true,
We will take a look at the independent candidates that successfully submitted petitions as a follow up.
