Collingswood, Lawrence, Maplewood Host Rallies for Palestine This Past Weekend (11/30-12/1)
New Jersey hosted at least three anti-genocide vigils this weekend, each organized by different groups in various locations across the state.
On Saturday, the biweekly protest organized by South Jersey for Gaza took place as scheduled. Despite the cold, several dozen people gathered to express their outrage over the U.S. government’s support for the genocide in Gaza.
On Sunday, two separate vigils were held—one in Lawrence and another in Maplewood.

Our reporter, who played a small role in organizing the Lawrence protest, attended as a participant. This was the first protest organized by the newly formed Trenton DSA chapter. The event saw attendance ranging from 17 to 23 people. Originally planned as a monthly event, the strong turnout and enthusiasm suggest it will likely transition to a biweekly protest. Finally, the group SOMA (South Orange and Maplewood) for Palestine held it’s weekly vigil outside of the Maplewood city hall:
These regular vigils help counter the Zionist propaganda that pervades the culture and serve as bases for organizing other actions. Weekly events act as hubs, fostering a powerful movement for Palestinian liberation and the dismantling of the American empire.
