Immigrant Families and Workers to Demand Respect for Their Rights and Dignity on May 1st Register

WHAT: In the spirit of May Day, or International Workers’ Day, Resistencia en Acción NJ, immigrant workers across the state, and allies will march to voice and demand the following:
● Workers’ rights are human rights! We demand a living wage, safe working conditions, and dignity—not more billionaires profiting off our labor.
● ICE Out! No family separations. No detention centers. No Poli-Migra (ICE-Police collaboration). Our communities deserve freedom and safety.
● No war! From Palestine to Iran, Cuba to New Jersey, we stand with oppressed people everywhere, not with war profiteers or genocidal regimes.
WHERE: Starting at the Fountain of Freedom on Washington Rd, Princeton, NJ 08542, the march will then pass by several streets until reaching Community Park South.
WHEN: Friday, May 1st, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. It is recommended that press arrive by 5:30pm to coordinate spaces and interviews.
WHO: We are expecting more than 1,200 people, an increase from last year’s 800 participants. The march will include more than 30 organizations from around the state, listed below.
WHY: The Trump administration’s continued attacks on civil and human rights domestically and abroad have devastated entire communities. May 1st, or May Day, is not only Resistencia’s biggest mobilization of the year, but also an opportunity to denounce injustice and demand protections for our immigrant community. We recognize the intersection between the struggles of the immigrant, labor, and anti-war movements, and we embrace them all to fight back against hostile businesses and politicians who seek to exploit and demonize our people. Only the people save the people!
