Let 10000 NJ May Day Protests Bloom!
All street able participants in NJ should make every effort to take the streets in the many locations throughout NJ where there will be protest events on May First. Of course we all know May Day is the date of international workers unity and solidarity and it is rooted in working class movements fighting against capitalism and for socialism and communism ideals. However it is also true that May Day in the United States right now represents the next major manifestation of national unity of struggle against a myriad of threats to our survival. At the same time we need to struggle to assure that the message of May Day is not diluted away from class struggle and toward complicity with war, fascism, repression and genocide.
Also this editor would like to float this proposal to all of the May Day organizers to consider advocating at your events to extend the call beyond May Day to be a regular presence in every major gathering area of cities and towns – weekly for now but to build toward an ever presence – with flexibility on location and timing in support of fluctuating demands and priorities of our communities. If everybody has common knowledge of relatively where to go and when – when they are ready for action to defend our communities – that will make it easier to build a mass breathing movement beyond May Day.
Best of luck this May Day – let there be 10000 NJ May Day events and let thousands join us in the streets – May Day and Beyond!
If you have links to announcements / fliers – get them to Editor@FightBackBetter.com or however you normally communicate to this editor Bob WItanek.
So far May Day events listed include:

BRIDGETON

📍 147 Irving Ave, Bridgeton, NJ
🗓️ May 1st 5pm
For the first time in 20 years, May Day is returning to Bridgeton! And we’re not coming alone.
Cumberland County 🤝 Atlantic County
We’re proud to announce that @elpueblounidoac is officially joining us to build something bigger than any one organization, bigger than any one city, bigger than any one county.
This is what it looks like when movements come together. When communities refuse to stay divided.
20 years ago, May Day in Bridgeton was part of one of the largest waves of immigrant worker mobilization in U.S. history and this year we’re bringing it back!
Not as a memory, but as a moment.
A moment to stand for dignity.
A moment to stand for our communities.
A moment to show what it looks like when immigrant struggle and worker struggle move as one.
Because this has always been one fight. And this May Day, we’re building something that people will remember. Be there for this historic day for immigrant and worker justice
CAMDEN

We’re coming together this May Day to put workers over billionaires!
The system is rigged for the ultra-rich, but we don’t have to accept it. While billionaires gut public services, health care accessibility, and more, we’re organizing for a future that puts working people first.
Join us in Camden next Friday, May 1st at 2:45 PM for a powerful show of solidarity alongside community organizations, labor unions and advocates across New Jersey.

EDISON
May 1 (Fri.): May Day activities
o Picket Citizens Bank (Friday, May 1, 11am-1pm, Edison): The bank is funding companies (Geo Group and CoreCivic) that run detention centers (concentration camps) for ICE (https://tracreports.org/reports/753). We will be picketing outside of the Edison bank branch on May 1 and will be continuing to do that on other days as well. If interested, write us at indivisiblehighlandpark@gmail.com
From Highland Park Indivisibie:
Sitdown Strike: On May Day, don’t buy from the companies listed below and, if you can, don’t go to work or to school. Let’s start building the muscle we may need to nonviolently but forcefully resist any Trump effort to stop the November elections. The companies below are singled out for supporting ICE or mistreating their workers or cutting back or repudiating their diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies:
- Amazon: helps ICE, mistreats workers, cut its DEI programs
- Home Depot: helps ICE, cut its DEI programs
- Target: silent as ICE targets its workers, cut its DEI program

Students Rise Up on May Day: Rutgers Newark: May Day Strong
We’ve watched as college gets more expensive, ICE kidnaps our friends, politicians go to war on our dime, good jobs disappear, and our futures get more uncertain. Billionaires want to rig the system, but we’re rising up on May Day because the system can’t function without us! All are welcome – students, workers, alumni, and community members! We’ll be walking out of school to demand affordability, freedom, and safety at our school. Bring your own signs! Please note: A core principle behind all our events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.

NEWTON

A rally is just a crowd until people like you show up with a purpose.
We are fighting for the basic needs everyone deserves. We need your courage to show our community that we are united and we are ready for change. Will you be there?
Newton Green, 4 Spring St, Newton, NJ 07860
May 2nd, 11AM-1:30PM
Rally & March
If you’re looking to understand or be part of the community efforts to save programs like Medicaid, Head Start, Social Security, LIHEAP, and more you should pull up.
I love that they are tying in donations to Benny’s Bodega. In troubling times, we gotta look out for each other and that is the basis of what they do.
Pull up, donate, get inspired, act.
