CAIR-NJ, CAIR Action NJ Condemn Democratic Caucus Chair for Anti-Muslim Remarks, Call for Resignation from Public Positions

Editor’s Note: FightBackBetter editorial board totally agrees with CAIR’s demands but also stresses that there needs to be a full investigation of the connection to the IHRA Bill whose chief Assembly sponsor’s chief of staff has revealed this obvious Islamaphobic narrative. This connection to the iHRA bill suggests that there are some hidden agendas about who these would be repressers of NJ’s beloved protected free speech rights are coming for. Any action on these bills must be immediately paused and both legislative bodies must investigate the Islamapohobic connections of NJ’s IHRA push. We call for a NJ legislative investigation and report.

Meanwhile the Trump administration has the whole nation on edge as struggling workers and impoverished are openly referred to as “Parasites” by Musk and followers. Trump has picked up where the Biden-Harris Administration left off – to follow up the slaughtering genocide with a glib announcement that US is going to “take Gaza”, possibly deploying troops, remove 1.3 to 2.1 million Gazans, depending on how many survived, Israel has pivoted to the West Bank with tens of thousands uprooted and almost 100 killed in 25 by US backed Israeli forces, the announced revocation of student visas to activists who participate in Palestine solidarity, the US – Israel talk of total war with Iran – all issues of concern.

A united front against the overwhelming assaults of the Trump administration with Palestine center focused is what is needed right now. The biggest impediment to any such effort is Democrats who participate in the criminalization of protected free speech on the topic of Israel. We have the rights to criticize even our own government including the Trump admnistration and that MUST include Trump’s policy toward Palestinians. Democrats can not call for unity and at the same time vilify the very community organizers on the front lines of every issue and every INCLUDES Palestine. THAT makes ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE!

It is no wonder that Assemblyman Gary Schaer, the prime sponsor of the Assembly’s IHRA bill, has an anti-Muslim and anti-Palestinian bigot as his Chief of Staff. We all know that the purpose of the IHRA definition is to silence free speech rights especially for Palestinians, Arabs, Muslims, Jews, & allies who are protesting for Palestinian rights. The entire logic of IHRA legislation is that Palestinian and Muslim lives don’t matter and don’t deserve support. Also that the citizenship rights of minority New Jerseyans do not matter since these communities are at the vanguard of the protest movement. This is another example of exactly why the IHRA definition must not be adopted in New Jersey.
