ALL OUT 9PM WED 8/21 AT JFK – CHECK BACK FOR LOCATION UPDATES – American Solidarity Activist from Jersey City, NJ Returns to the US After Being Shot by the Israeli Army in the West Bank

Amado Sison, an American solidarity activist of Filipino descent, will be returning home after being shot by the Israeli army during a visit to the West Bank. He will hold a press conference at the John F Kennedy Airport upon arrival on Wednesday, August 21, at 9 PM EST.

Amado Sison is a New Jersey resident who was shot by the Israeli army as they violently dispersed a demonstration in the West Bank village of Beita. Demonstrators were protesting the establishment of yet another illegal Israeli settlement on Palestinian land.

Ten days ago, at a protest in the town of Beita, Sison was struck with live ammunition in the back of his right thigh at close range. The bullet entered his thigh, causing a large exit wound and significant hemorrhaging, indicating he was shot while walking away from the soldiers, and thus did not pose any risk to them. Protesters were forced to carry him over for over 1500 feet to an ambulance as the soldiers continued to chase them, and delayed the ambulance multiple times.

Sison, who volunteers for an international campaign that provides civil protection to Palestinians, said from his hospital bed: “I was there to support Palestinians, document Israeli aggression, and provide a protective presence against unchecked Israeli violence. If Israeli soldiers are willing to shoot a completely non-violent American citizen, just imagine the level of violence directed at Palestinians when no one is documenting their actions.”

Sison will be available to share his experiences from the frontlines in the West Bank, highlighting the escalating violence from Israeli settlers and Israeli forces, and the resilience of the Palestinian people. Media representatives are encouraged to attend and cover this important return.
