Schumer Aide Attacks Jewish Protesters – Ripping Their Anti-Genocide Banner
BREAKING: 18 Jewish New Yorkers were just arrested for shutting down Senator Schumer and Senator Gillibrand’s offices and refusing to leave, calling on their elected officials to #DumpAIPAC and support a ceasefire in Gaza. Observing a Jewish mourning ritual, they placed 30 stones, honoring the 30,000 Palestinians killed by the US-backed bombing, in the lobby of the Senate offices.
The Israeli military has killed over 11,000 children in four months of bombing and military assault. Gaza has been made uninhabitable by design, with Israeli airstrikes destroying 70% of infrastructure, including hospitals, universities and the electricity and water grids. Nearly two million people were forced to flee their homes; 1.5 million are sheltering in the southern city of Rafah, where the Israeli military has launched airstrikes.
AIPAC is not only complicit in this genocidal violence — they are actively enabling it. Over the last two years, AIPAC gave $348,818 to Senator Gillibrand and $101,570 to Senator Schumer. As New Yorkers, we are outraged that our elected officials are answering to a far-Right lobby group instead of the people they were elected to serve. @SenGillibrand and @SenSchumer, your Jewish constituents call on you to #DumpAIPAC and stop the genocide of Palestians in our name, with our tax dollars!
Across the street from the sit-in, thousands of Jews and allies are taking over the AIPAC headquarters. We refuse to stand by while AIPAC funds genocide in Gaza and erodes our democracy here in the US. @SenSchumer and @SenGillibrand, we demand you start listening to the will of the people and reject AIPAC as the extremist warmongers they’ve always been.
