MSU for Palestine Students Join Efforts to Aid Water Assistance in Gaza

Students at Montclair State University coordinated by the organization MSU for Palestine are engaged with other humanitarian aid supporters arranging water support to the Palestinians in Gaza who are victims of a genocide that includes forced starvation and potable water deprivation. As part of the effort:

A truck was arranged in Gaza. Clean filtered water was given out to children and family members. A small group of Gazans do relief assistance like this periodically, when they receive support. MSU 4 Palestine is one of the organizations that supports them. Messages from MSU students etc., are displayed in the pictures from Gaza. The messages are all from the Montclair state university community (students, staff, etc).

An organizer of the water aid and other activities states: “MSU 4 Palestine community participants find this work incredibly inspiring since we know every Gazan lives in hourly threat of horror with ever-present sounds of explosions and drones. We find relief from our incredible frustration at being made complicit in genocide through their universities horrific investment in companies involved in supporting murder and ongoing tragedy. “

According to the organizer, MSU 4 Palestine faces weekly repression from the University’s consistent pressure to silence and restrict them. “But we find inspiration in every single good act, every single clean drink of water and any single minute that we can make a Palestinian child’s life a little less frightening and traumatic.

“We spoke to everyone that stopped by and encouraged them to join our instagram to stay updated. We don’t necessarily have “members” but we do have a group for the students to connect and to share our events with them. Our goal as the organizers is to have weekly events to educate people on campus and encourage them to come out and show solidarity.” the organizer added.

MSU for Palestine holds weekly events to bring awareness to the students on campus. If you’d like to stay updated, follow their instagram. https://www.instagram.com/msu4palestine/

There also is a Students for Justice in Palestine at Montclair. The role of MSU 4 Palestine is more of direct weekly interactions/presence on campus to share with and educate students/staff on important topics relating to Palestine including children, food, poetry etc.

Commenting on repression from Montclair State University, the organizer stated:

“Because this is expressive activity and pro Palestinian, we usually have cones and barriers put up and police and school administration at all of our weekly activities. They seem to be backing off a bit (our event today only had 2 police officers and 1 admininstrator) but the barriers are still there, “for our safety”. They actually changed the expressive activity policy at our university twice this semester (it was last changed in 2021) and most of it seemed to be because of us. That’s why we’re now required to submit our activities 5 days in advance, we can’t use amplified sounds like mega phones even when classes aren’t in session, and a few other unnecessary rules.”

The repression is growing on all of the campuses for any freely expressed opposition to US support for genocide. Congress and NJ legistlative bodies are concocting fascist legislation making it criminal and anti-Semitic to challenge any policy of Israel and US support for Israel. The Democrats that called for unity against Trump fascism are joining Republicans to give Trump the fascist tools to crack down on the students. Groups like MSU 4 Palestine and MSU Students for Justice in Palestine and similar groups on campuses across NJ and the nation are ON THE FRONT LINES of the defense of our fundemental protected First Amendment Rights to Free Speech in addition to setting the moral example to the nation about the relentless energy we must apply effectively to end the genocide IMMEDIATELY! Good luck and thank you for your service!” – Editor, FightBackBetter
