Green 13 Candidate Slate Condemns Biden-Harris Israel Arms Sale

On Tuesday, August 13th, the US State Department officially authorized its latest weapons sale to Israel. The sale includes over $20 billion worth of war machines for Israel to continue its genocide against Palestinians in Gaza, its oppression over Palestine broadly, and its aggression toward neighboring states.

The Biden-Harris administration has repeatedly and shamelessly lied to the American people about its plans in Palestine. This recent sale is only the latest example. Spokespeople for the administration have repeatedly indicated that they were not seeking a broader regional war in addition to the genocide. And yet, with multiple F-15 fighter jets included in this latest sale, it is obvious that the Biden-Harris administration is in fact preparing Israel for a larger war, likely to first expand north to Lebanon.

As the Green Party of New Jersey (GPNJ) continue(s) to demand that our elected officials uphold international law (including the July 19th decision by the International Court of Justice finding that the Israeli occupation of Palestinian land is illegal, and a previous International Court of Justice order for Israel to halt military operations in Rafah), and as the Harris campaign pretends to pay lip service to the growing movement calling for a free Palestine within the Democratic party, this is the horrifying reality that this administration has encouraged for the last 10 months.

Congress has proven itself equally as willing to provide enormous amounts of weapons for the Israeli occupation. This is why GPNJ is challenging every Congressional seat in the state, including the U.S. Senate, with its Green 13 slate of Green Party candidates. As candidates, we support peace, progress, sustainability, and economic justice for workers– but most importantly, we are anti-genocide and anti-war. We believe that a free Palestinian state is not only possible, but inevitable and the best way to bring peace to the region and the world.

$20 billion of our tax dollars is being spent to facilitate a genocide and provoke a large-scale war in west Asia, while millions of Americans suffer from no healthcare coverage, no access to clean water, no access to housing, no employment guarantee, no access to adequate food, no mental health treatment, and no plan to address the climate catastrophe. This abhorrent contradiction demands our attention and our collective power in New Jersey now more than ever before.

We condemn these developments in the strongest terms possible. It has been clear that any attempts made to gain concessions from the Harris campaign, and the Democratic party more broadly, will continue to be ignored. We openly reject this buffet of lies– and we will continue to contribute to the popular movement for real change. We intend to bring the strength of our movement for peace and a permanent ceasefire to the polls in November!
