MONDAY, JANUARY 11, TRENTON STATEHOUSE – STATEWIDE UNITY TO DEFEND OUR COMMUNITIES FROM ICE TERROR AND DEMAND PASSAGE OF ITA PACKAGE!
By now you have likely seen that our bills have passed, though not unscathed.
The Attorney General’s Immigrant Trust Directive is codified with protections for people with final orders of removals but not or those with charges. Our fight to restore due process for all continues forward.
We have also seen changes to the Safe Communities Act and Privacy Protections Act, mostly around healthcare facilities. Where these pieces have been narrowed, important pillars like protecting data at the MVC and against Automatic License Plate Readers have survived.
The versions that passed the Senate Judiciary Committee tonight are more or less the versions that will be voted on in both chambers on Monday before being sent to the Governor for signature. We pushed until the clock ran out.
We know this isn’t a full win on policy. We mourn the protections our communities deserve and those who will go without due process as ICE ramps up its violence and lawlessness.
But I want to be clear. This is a significant stride for our advocacy. Our movement proved that we can withstand significant blows and still stand on both feet.
Over the last 12 months, we were first to respond to one of Trump’s very first workplace raids –within 48 hours of his swearing in. We have made headlines for opposing Trump’s first detention center. We stood in defiance as we watched those among us — from our fellow protestors to some of our most recognized politicians — face arrest, charges, and political retaliation.
But in the face of that fear and contrary to the doubters and cynics who said it would be too hard, we pushed and three bills are closer to becoming law.
In my family’s language, a singular protest slogan has endured for several generations: “Makibaka! Huwag Matakot!” It means “Struggle! Do not be afraid!”
We have proven, in the face of fear, doubt, uncertainty, and cynicism: Our movement is becoming too powerful to ignore.

Employee fired for Doxxing ICE thugs using facility as operation center for violence.
FIghtBackBetter does not suggest that you put your job at risk in this way without full anticipation of consequences but the terror is being resisted in many ways and the creativity of the people is growing. In this case a hotel employee disrupted an ICE operation by blowing the whistle on criminal ICE thugs trying to make the hotel a base for violence against the community. There should be some deep dive analysis on how hotels are essentially field operation centers for committing violence against the community and pressure against the chains especially that are providing this murderous service can be structured!
