Newark, Where is the Cease Fire Resolution?

Opinion submission to FightBackBetter.com:

WHY HAS NEWARK, NEW JERSEY YET TO ADOPT A CEASEFIRE RESOLUTION?????
Newark, NJ is supposed to be a progressive city, in which the majority of the Municipality is run by Black and Brown pp! And it wasn’t this corrupt duopoly that got us in any of these so called seats of power!
IT WAS BLACK LIBERATION AND STRUGGLE! It was Brown revolutionaries willing to challenge the system! It wasn’t Black and Brown pp willing to go along to get along!
Newark went up in flames in 1967 in a HUGE REBELLION that literally changed the whole dynamic on Newark and the Black Community. BLACK POWER WAS BORN OUT OF THAT STRUGGLE. Or it least it was supposed to be.
NEWARK SHOULD HAVE BEEN LEADING THE CHARGE TO DEMAND A CEASEFIRE, WITHOUT HESITATION! What does it take to BODLY CONDEMN THE SLAUGHTER OF INNOCENT, UNARMED CIVILIANS?
And not just Newark. But East Orange, Orange, Irvington, and any place where there are Black mayors . Any place where there are Brown mayors! Any place where there are pp sitting at these so called tables who come from the seeds of those who have a glorious history of rising up against COLONIALISM!
The Black community used to be unabashedly the first to be the most progressive! We used to be the first to push the envelope.

Or did I remember that wrong? Did King and Malcolm and Harriet really happen?
I don’t see evidence of them in electoral politics. I really don’t!
Black electoral politics has really degenerated and defines MLK’s nightmare!
The thing about it is, I don’t see where calling for a ceasefire to stop the slaughter of unarmed civilians is even revolutionary!

All I know is that on 2/7/24, the Council Member Rountree said she would introduce a resolution for a ceasefire at the next city council meeting, which was on 2/27/24. And all I know is it is March 1st, 2024 and Newark has NOT adopted a ceasefire resolution.

But actually, I know something else. I know that a whole lot more Palestinian pp were killed than should’ve been since 2/7. And I know a whole lot more will be dead by this evening and tomorrow. And I know that the US is funding this gen#cide and flaunting it in our faces because of ALL THOSE WHO GO ALONG TO GET ALONG. And all of those Black and Brown elected politicians and their supporters who tell them they will fall in line with anything they do.
THESE ARE SOME HARD UGLY LESSONS TO LEARN!

And by the way — shout out to Jamaine Cripe, an elected official in Maplewood, NJ who had the GUTS to speak out a call for a ceasefire in the early part of December. And yes. She is Black and a woman and is one of the few politicians in NJ who gives me a ray of hope.
