Gov Libertarian Candidate Vic Kaplan Joins Demand to Halt NJ Participation in NSPM7 Repression
Editor’s Note: What hopefully is the beginning of a growing chorus of calls for NJ to prevent support for NSPM7 thought control crackdown being launched by Trump and US Attorney General Bondi, Libertarian candidate for Governor Vic Kaplan is echoing the demands of Green Party NJ Guberanatorial candidate Lily Benavides and this FightBackBetter editor. We are calling for NJ Attorney General Matthew Platkin to issue a directive to NJ police departments and agencies not to cooperate with the illegal NSPM7 thought policing, massive violence and repression. This editor welcomes candidate Kaplan’s role in defending potentially millions of NJ citizens and residents from state terror that Trump is gloating about bringing to this entire nation, including NJ. Hopefully more organizations and individuals will raise this demand: NO NJ COMPLICITY IN NSPM7!
After reviewing the NATIONAL SECURITY PRESIDENTIAL MEMORANDUM/NSPM-7, I would like to make the following statement.
As the candidate for New Jersey governor, I strongly oppose the implementation of NSPM – 7 on New Jersey soil. I base my position on the following clauses that make this directive unconstitutional. The implementation of this directive would be in violation of free speech, such as disagreeing with any federal policy. I call for the nullification of the directive by the Attorney General Platkin.
“Anti-Americanism” as cited in Section 1 is a vague term that could mean any disagreement with any federal policy. Freedom of assembly is a right that is included in the First Amendment. Those who believe that opinions they disagree with, should be criminalized, may not consider that this would allow for their opinions to be criminalized, as well. Opposing “capitalism” and “Christianity” are opinions that are covered by the First Amendment. Using violence, on the other hand, is a criminal act. For example, a protest opposing capitalism, would be completely legitimate under the US Constitution’s first Amendment right of the freedom of assembly. “Extremism on migration, race, and gender” does not define what those terms mean. “Hostility towards those who hold traditional American views on family, religion, and morality” does not include violence next to it, which makes these opinions covered by the First Amendment. Even the support for the overthrow of the US government is covered by the 1st Amendment, as exemplified by the fact that the Communist Party has not been banned.
Since the Department of Justice is asking the police to assist in creation of the target lists for this persecution – I call upon the Office of the Attorney General Platkin to immediately direct NJ police not to cooperate with data requests or demands nor support these efforts that violate the free speech rights of the American people in any way.
