Green Party Candidate Tom Cannavo Excluded from Stockton University Debate, Plans Protest
Galloway, NJ – Tom Cannavo, Green Party candidate for New Jersey’s 2nd Congressional District, has announced his exclusion from the public debate being held on October 24, 2024, from 6:00 to 7:00 PM at Stockton University’s William J. Hughes Center for Public Policy. The debate, organized without an audience, will be live-streamed by the Atlantic City Press and the Hughes Center’s website.
Despite being a valid candidate on the ballot, Cannavo has not received any explanation for his exclusion, despite multiple attempts to contact the organizers.
“This kind of exclusion is not only a disservice to the voters of New Jersey but an affront to democracy,” said Cannavo. “The Green Party has faced this undemocratic silencing for too long. We must stand up for democracy and political speech.”
In response to this exclusion, Cannavo supporter are organizing a peaceful protest at Stockton University on October 24 from 5pmto 7;30 PM. Supporters will gather outside the Huges Center near the campus entrance on Vera King Farris Drive. The protest will include signs, a potential rally, and efforts to make participants and organizers aware of the demand for fair inclusion.
“We want those responsible to understand that exclusion of a valid candidate is unacceptable. This protest is not just about me, but about ensuring that all voices are heard in our democracy,” said Cannavo.
Cannavo invites supporters, allies, and anyone concerned about democracy and fair elections to join the protest.
