WE CAN USE OUR VOTE TO OPPOSE NJ IHRA IN 2025!

If the IHRA laws are not voted on in the NJ legislature by November 4, 2025 election day we can help defeat the bills by voting for and electing candidates who will vote no.  If the issue has been decided and the bills already passed, we can use our votes to hold accountable those officials who voted FOR IHRA and the end of free speech in NJ.  The following are candidates fielding in 2025 NJ elections opposed to IHRA  (Informational, Not an Endorsement of any candidates):

Democratic Primary Election June 10, 2025

Candidates with known positions opposing the proposed NJ IHRA legislation and opposition to an IHRA legal definition of anti-semitism:

For Governor, Steven Fulop has stated that he would “not sign” IHRA legislation.  Gottheimer, Sherrill and presumably Sweeney are in favor of the proposed repressive laws and Baraka and Spiller are quiet so far.

For Assembly, the following Democratic Party candidates have known positions opposing IHRA legislation in NJ:  LD1 Brandon Saffold and Carolyn Rush

General Election November 4, 2025

Independent candidates in the general election that are known opponents of NJ’s proposed IHRA law or any law based upon relief:

Green Party Gubernatorial candidate Stephen Zielinski

Green Party Assembly candidates:

LD 3 Al Rabady, LD 5 Robin Brownfield, LD 7 Lisa Ryan, LD 26 Lily Benavides,
LD 27 Hanne Othman Diab

Free Speech Unity candidates:
LD 16 Bob Witanek

Presumed opponents of IHRA in Assembly

LD 35 Alaa Abdelaziz

There are numerous others considering a bid right now and petition resources are being researched.  Fightbackbetter will continue to monitor positions of officials and candidates and update this list – we expect to be able to identify candidates across most of the 40 LDs
