Palestine Protests in NJ 1/11-1/17
Despite freezing temperatures and fierce winds, South Jersey for Gaza gathered outside Pioneer Steakhouse in Mt. Laurel on Tuesday the 14th for it’s weekly rally. The group, determined to amplify their efforts, plans to expand its activism following the recent declaration of a ceasefire. Full disclosure, the author is a member of the South Jersey for Gaza group, which is where this information comes from.
Meanwhile, Teaneck for Peace and Justice held a rally at the National Guard Armory on January 15, expressing concerns about the ceasefire’s fragility. “We’re worried that the deal might not even happen,” said Paula from Teaneck for Peace. “We were skeptical but hopeful. It turned out that many Palestinians were killed after the announcement, and we’re all so upset.”
In Montclair, the Montclair for Peace group gathered on January 17 from 4-5PM at 2 Church Street, continuing their advocacy for lasting peace in the region. These local gatherings reflect growing anxiety over the impact and effectiveness of the ceasefire, as communities rally for change.
Also on Friday, from 5-6, Members of Trenton Area DSA fliered at Quakerbridge mall. They distributed flyers advocating for a ceasefire in Gaza. This is part of the Trenton DSA’s Palestine Working Groups biweekly mobilization for Palestine. They will be holding a rally from 12-2 at the Trenton Farmer’s Market this Sunday, weather permitting.
