Source: Insta @fit.sjp 12/8/2024 (confirming date ed.) WE WILL NOT REST: NYC students disrupted a dinner hosted by CUNY Chancellor Félix Matos Rodríguez and SUNY Chancellor John King to demand that our universities end complicity in the ongoing genocide in Palestine. Over the past 14 months, despite a wide consensus among their students, Chancellors King and Rodríguez have chosen to ignore student demands and double down on their unwavering support for Israel and its genocide. These chancellors, along with their colleagues in the mayor’s office, the city council, and the state assembly, have been unabashed in their support for the Zionist project, and have continued to repress and ostracize students who oppose our institutions’ financial and academic complicity in the murder of Palestinians. SUNY alone has over $250 million invested in Israeli bonds. CUNY has over $8.5 million in contacts with companies that are profiting from Israel’s occupation and ongoing genocide in Palestine. So long as our universities choose to remain invested in genocide, their administrators will know no peace. An overwhelming majority of the students in New York stand with Palestine and demand divestment from Israel. History will not absolve Chancellor Rodríguez, Chancellor King, or any of their colleagues who have remained of to profiteering from genocide. We, the students, will not be intimidated or deterred from organizing for Palestine. The Student Intifada continues until liberation and return.
