Elizabeth Organizers: Principal Threatened ICE Terror On His Own Students! Bd of Ed Mtg 2/19
Principal Michael Cummings inflicted fear upon our students. students who had the courage to stand up and lead protests against ICE. Instead of protecting them, instead of listening to them, he chose intimidation and racism.
He told them that if they stepped outside to protest, ICE would be outside waiting to detain them. He threatened them with suspension. He blamed them for organizing. He weaponized fear.
Using ICE as a threat against students is racist, reckless, and dangerous. It places undocumented and mixed-status students directly in harm’s way. It turns a school where young people should feel safe into a place of terror.
This is not leadership. This is abuse of power and anti-blackness in action.
The Elizabeth Board of Education must act swiftly and remove Michael Cummings. Anything less is complicity. Silence is not neutrality it is approval. And accountability will only happen if the power of the people demands it.
That’s why we need you.
We need you to pack the next Elizabeth Board of Education meeting and demand that your voices be heard. Show up for the students who were threatened. Show up for the families who are living in fear. Show up because our children deserve better.
We will continue to be there in solidarity and support. Our students deserve to live in a world free of terror, free of fear, free of inhumane abuses, and free of white supremacy. They deserve schools that defend them not silence them and erase their existence.
