Chicago: Mil Style Violent ICE Raid Targeted Entire Apartment Building, Feds Temp Detain Everyone, Cart off 37 – Will We Unite Against the Fascist Terror?

On September 30, A military style invasion by 300 ICE and other fed police some rapelling from at least one helicopter targeted every resident of a South Shore aparment building and 100s, everyone in the building was detained for hours. Most were eventually released but 37 were taken into custody. Many tenants of the building were forced into the street naked. There were reports of separating Black vs. Latino tenants. Children were also separated. The fed invasion left the entire apartment complex littered with the destroyed contents of the working class tenants strewn about, numerous windows smashed. The message is clear, the US Trump Administration is conducting high profile warfare against Black and Brown People of the United States. That is the enemy within that the Trump Administration was referencing in his unhinged ramblings to 800 generals the same day of the South Shore Apartment Raid.

The massive raid that targeted immigrant Latino and Black working class citizens and residents with such ferocity might have had a side effect. The Trump Administration targets all sectors of our population with violence, cuts in needed services, constant smear and derision and hateful bloviation, appeals for violence against oppressed sectors, lawfare attacks and many other deprivations. A sweeping attack as this one demonstrates now to Black Citizens and Residents across the nation . . . while Trump might be bringing the brunt of the massive fascist and violent assaults on our communities against the immigrant communities (which of course includes the predominantly Black Haitian community), the Trump administration is making clear that it holds equal disdain for America’s Black population. The resultant effect is that Black community organizers are coming forward and speaking to the issue. There could be a boomerang impact leading to greater convergence of resistance efforts as Trump clarifies the MAGA hatred is coming for all of us through raids such as this one.

The following are some of the warnings coming from Black community organizers.

Margaret Kimberley, editor and writer for Black Agenda Report recently wrote a bombshell report on Trump’s declaration of war on the American people. She offered this comment about the Chicago apartments raid: ” ”We’re citizens. We don’t have to worry about ICE.’ Except that Black people’s citizenship rights don’t amount to much. So yes, they will use ICE or any of the feds or local cops and come for you too.

Jason Williams teaches Justice Studies at Montclair State University in New Jersey and is a frequent commenter on justice issues in NJ’s media. He offered the following thoughts:

Every time the state flexes its most authoritarian instincts, Black and Brown communities are the first proving ground. From no-knock drug raids to “zero tolerance” housing policies that led to mass evictions and arrests, public housing projects have long been treated as laboratories for surveillance, control, and punishment.

Now we’re watching those same tactics, with helicopters, mass round-ups, and militarized raids, spread across cities under the banner of “law and order.” But none of this is new. Those of us who grew up in public housing have seen this script before. The uniforms change, the rhetoric shifts, but the message stays the same: poor Black and Brown lives are expendable when the state wants to test its power.

Every experiment on us becomes tomorrow’s policy for everyone else. The same punitive systems that once targeted only Black and Brown communities are now reaching deeper into poor and working-class white communities, revealing what happens when a society mistakes punishment for governance. What begins as racial containment always grows into broader social control.

What starts in our neighborhoods never stays there. If you want to see the future of authoritarianism, look where the helicopters land first.

Lisa Davis, a NJ antiwar community leader and member of Black is Back Coalition and the Black Alliance for Peace has shared this video and provided this comment:

“This is why I always said Black people MUST get involved BECAUSE THEY WOULD BE COMING FOR US TOO!”

More Details:

This scene is from October 3, is of a military-style crackdown unfolding outside the Broadview ICE facility in Illinois. Snipers on rooftops. Armored vehicles in the streets. Protesters dragged away. This isn’t immigration enforcement. This is the Trump Regime’s continuing implementation of a fascist agenda.

WE WILL NOT BE SILENCED!
