Sadaf Jaffer: Why would anyone support Gottheimer “a hateful anti-Palestinian, anti-Arab, and anti-Muslim bigot who is willing to destroy our free speech rights”

Josh Gottheimer has united with one of the most fascist Trump-ian congress members (Virginia Foxx) to introduce a fascist measure toward colleges that would punish them for making economic and social decisions with their investment portfolios to disctance from Israel – which aside from the genocide and political reasons is a prudent economic decision given the absolute failed status that Israel’s businesses are in due to their complicity in genocide. The whole premise of the bloviating grand stand measure is preposterous because it states that colleges will be penalized if they divest from Israel due to “boycotts dictated by those in the boycott-sanction-divest (BDS) movement.” BDS is an advocacy movement without any state power to dictate anything. Indeed it is Gottheimer acting like the fascist dictator trying to impose mandatory support for Israel and mandatory investments in the failed economic and social policies of genocidal Israel. Sadaf Jaffer’s concerns are well stated and legitimate from a humanitarian and from a concern about protecting our free speech rights. But also Gottheimer trying to mandate the financial decisions of the investment portfolio management – his attempt to mandate financial investment in Israel while Israel financially across the board is TANKING – mandates a failed investment strategy for colleges. According to a recent article at Consortium News Service :
On top of mounting military casualties, that price includes the disastrous economic toll as thousands flee their homes, businesses shut their doors and the consumer economy shrinks.
Hamas and Hezbollah shelling in the south and north has displaced an estimated 200,000 Israelis from their homes; foreign labourers are exiting the country and the cancellation of 150,000 Palestinian work permits in the West Bank has brought construction to a standstill.
Tourism, a mainstay of Israel’s economy, has come to a halt and spending on leisure and entertainment has dropped by 70 percent. An estimated 60,000 Israeli firms have failed this year, Israel’s credit ratings have been downgraded multiple times, technology companies are moving overseas and roughly half a million Israelis (many educated high tech professionals) left the country during the first six months of the war.
This trend is not just an economic catastrophe for Israel – the mass exodus is an existential threat to the very survival of the Israeli state that has been premised on maintaining a Jewish majority since its founding. – Israel: Beginning of the End
Gottheimer is making his fascist intentions for NJ quite clear as he has proclaimed sending the police after the pro-Palestine advocates in NJ as a top campaingn promise.
