Breaking ICE NJ Style: ITA January Push, Proud Boy Intimidation Fail, 60 Minutes Censored CECOT Video Link, Atlantic City Support

Reports

Please read and engage with the community organizers responding and please join in organizing effective resistance to the terror that ICE and other federal police agencies are bringing to NJ.  Please share this report and help us bring this information to NJ and if you have information to add to our regular reports,  use the form to contact.

Today we are amplifying calls by Wind of Spirit to coordinate lobbying for the current lame duck NJ legislative session which ends on January 12, 2025 in support of the Immigrant Trust Act.  We also report upon continuation of the Home Depot pressure effort to force the $344 B to stop disrupting our communities – and our home improvement projects – by collaborating with ICE terror which is already impacting the bottom line of the Trump aligned Home Depot.

Capping off a weekend of protests of Home Depot participation and support for ICE terror operations with a street side presence outside the Home Depot in Ewing NJ, immigrant worker advocates were confronted by Proud Boys clad in uniform sweat shirts.  They taunted the immigrant supporters and made vague threats as they co-mingled in close proximity to the human rights supporters.  However there was no overt physical confrontation.  The purpose of the Proud Boy presence seemed more of an observatory role.  It is likely one or more are on the federal police payroll.  Proud Boys would likely welcome federal infiltration for such a purpose but whether or not there was a clear connection – they followed immigrant supporters to their cars and were seen observing motor vehicle plates.  They were clearly in more of a “snitch” role it would seem but that does not mean that will always be their role.  The presence of dangerous actors who advocate the terror Trump is bringing upon our communities at our events is a concerning development and some internal reflection might help figure out best practices for when such potentially dangerous situations arise.

The organizers rightfully opted for an approach not to engage in the taunts from the opponents.  They also unified with chanting. The organizers documented and got good video of the opponents and made a public record.  The same group of Proud Boys apparently had made an appearance recently in Somerset countering a NO KINGS protest – video.

Strategies might be needed going forward when the opposition insists on attempting to co-mingle with our group as it makes it more difficult to protect ourselves from assault.  Police are required to protect our free speech rights from attacks but this nation has a rich history of police involvement in the attacks and collaboration with violent elements. Indeed it is likely that one or more, perhaps most of the Proud Boy contingency are on some sort of federal or local police stipend.  If as is likely they were capturing the videos for the feds – it is likely that the videos were scanned for any faces whose identities have been placed on a list of targets by Palantir and other AI and predictive targeting software.

Radio Jornalero released this statement with a video of the Proud Boy agitators on their Facebook page today:

“Yesterday, protesters who gathered to raise their voices against ICE raids in or outside Home Depot stores in Ewing, NJ, encountered known agitators, including members of the Proud Boys

This group has a well-documented history of political violence and intimidation, and that’s exactly what they tried to do yesterday: provoke, intimidate, and silence. They used insults, profanity, and racist and homophobic language against those who were protesting peacefully.

We denounce and reject any attempt at intimidation and hatred. Our community has the right to express itself, to protest, and to demand dignity and justice without fear. Verbal violence and hatred will not silence us.

We remain strong, organized, and taking care of each other.✊🏽Hate does not divide us, community protects us.

January Plan for Full Court Trenton Press to Pass Immigrant Trust Act (ht Adam McGovern)

Wind of the Spirit calls for activists to advocate in Trenton for the Immigrant Trust Act on the following scheduled NJ legislative session days (plus possible others that might get added): Mon. 1/5, Tues. 1/6, Thurs. 1/8, and Mon. 1/12.  Contact Adam McGovern at this e-mail address: <adam@wotsnj.org> :

Legislators tell us that ITA advocates being present at the State House every legislative day since the election has been noticed, and the tone of discussions on the bill has gotten more positive — but with no specific details or concrete scheduling of hearings or votes. We need to keep vigilant that the bill doesn’t get watered down, and to keep showing up to show them that we will not relax on promises, nor compromise on calling for substantive immigrant protections and resistance to authoritarian intrusion.

The dates posted so far for the remainder of the 2025 legislative session (which goes a bit into the new year) are Mon. 1/5, Tues. 1/6, Thurs. 1/8, and Mon. 1/12.

We will know day by day what votes and/or committee meetings are being scheduled for those dates; the State posts a new Legislative Calendar every day or two. ALL are dates when it will be helpful for some people to be available in Trenton, since ANY are ones in which important votes might be held (and in some cases, testimony called for).

Jan. 5, 6, 8 and 12 will be important days to see the bill through to passage with as many people as we can recruit for as long days as it may take (though any shift is welcome and valued).

They may add some days (Mondays and Thursdays are standard, and you can see from the above that they have already added one Tuesday), so we will keep watch for that too, and you can feel free to keep in touch with me on that (and/or ask to receive regular updates).

A typical day has committees and/or votes at 10 am and 11 am, and at 12, 1 and 2 pm. We distribute all the background materials you may need to identify legislators, define talking points, etc.

Anyone can feel free to let me know a) which of the announced days you might have open on your calendar, and b) what other days between now and Jan. 12 you may have open.

Many thanks, Adam McGovern adam@wotsnj.org

Atlantic County Aid to Workers Impacted by ICE Terror

Solo El Pueblo Salva Al Pueblo ✊🏽

After such difficult days, we are holding onto hope and finding strength in small victories, even in the midst of deep sorrow and trauma. Right now, our community has a final opportunity to show up in a very real and loving way.

We are making our final call for donations to support one of our community members whose husband was detained by ICE in Atlantic City and is currently being held in an immigrant detention center. She is expecting to give birth to her baby girl this Monday, December 22, and will welcome her child into the world without her father by her side.

As we approach the final days before her delivery, there are just a few essential items she could still truly use. All donations will be dropped off on Saturday afternoon, December 20, and before then we are hoping to collect:

• Baby wipes

• Final gift cards to help cover essential expenses for the mom and baby (food, clothing, and basic necessities)

We are asking for one last push to ensure this mother feels supported, cared for, and not alone. Every donation, no matter the size, makes a difference.

Drop-off location:

📍 3203 Atlantic Avenue, Atlantic City

📞 609-594-7836

Thank you to every single person who has stood with this mother during this incredibly difficult time. Your generosity, support, and solidarity mean more than words can express, and they remind us what true community looks like
