Vs. Illegal Sale of Stolen Palestinian Land

On Wednesday, November 13, a participant in a demonstration against an event hosted by real estate firm My Israel Home in West Orange promoting the sale of properties in the illegal Givat HaMatos settlement in Jerusalem, was assaulted by a gang of violent counter protesters including Dr. Moshe Glick of Riverdale Family Dental, leader of the MetroWest Israel Action Committee and the New Jersey chapter of Israel365. The West Orange Police Department filed a report of the incident as a case of Aggravated Assault and informed the victim that a detective will follow up with him.

According to the victim:

On November 13, 2024, at approximately 7:00 PM, I attended a protest event in West Orange, NJ, regarding land sales in Palestine. After joining the front of the march, our group was approached by counter-protesters who began knocking materials from our hands in an attempt to disrupt the demonstration.

During this interaction, I was attacked by a group of four individuals. One attacker with a black leather jacket and ski mask pepper-sprayed me. As my vision was already impaired, the other attackers shone a flashlight in my eyes, attempted to tackle me down a hill, and struck me in the head with a flashlight, resulting in blunt force trauma to the right side of my head.

Following intervention by the police, I was advised to seek medical attention. Paramedics on-site evaluated my injury and recommended that I go to the emergency room for stitches.

The perpetrator who allegedly struck the victim with a flashlight was identified as Moshe Glick. His alleged accomplices have yet to be identified. The victim was one of roughly 100 demonstrators protesting the latest in a series of events promoting the sale of real estate on illegally occupied Palestinian land to an audience of New Jersey zionist Jews.  Protesters held signs with messages including “‘End Theft of Palestinian Land”, “Stop the Sale of Stolen Land”, “Palestinians Have a Right To Return To Their Land,” and “This Jew Says NO! To Ethnic Cleansing!”

The event was originally scheduled to be held at the home of Moshe and Rebecca Glick at 47 Nicholas Ave, West Orange but was moved to Congregation Ohr Torah at  270 Pleasant Valley Way, also in West Orange, which also houses the First Mountain Preschool, directed by West Orange mayor Susan McCartney, who in January illegally canceled a Palestinian flag raising event at the last minute.

Protesters were met with an aggressive and confrontational group of flag-waving counterprotesters, yelling “Trump will deport you!”, “Go back to your country!”, calling protesters terrorists, promising to “finish the job” of genocide in Gaza, and hurling degrading and threatening sexual comments at women including “come suck it” and rape threats.

The real estate event encouraged attendees to purchase real estate in Aderet Jerusalem, a real estate development in the planned Givat HaMatos settlement. My Israel Home’s Gedaliah Borvick bills Givat HaMatos as “Central Jerusalem’s Newest Neighborhood,” an area he describes as “liberated in 1967” when the zionist entity began its illegal occupation of the West Bank. Givat Hamatos has been condemned by both the European Union and the United States as in violation of international law and an obstacle to peace.

“Companies like My Israel Home profit from the expansion of the Jewish ethnostate by ethnically cleansing and settling Jerusalem beyond the Green Line and ultimately the entire West Bank. The racist mobs that come out in support of these events do so not to oppose antisemitism, but to support the further displacement of the Palestinian people from their homeland.” said Eric Camins, a Jewish resident of West Orange.

The West Orange event was one of a series of eight November events by the real estate firm encouraging Jews in New York and New Jersey to “come home” by purchasing properties in “magnificent Jerusalem projects” – a right denied to the over 8 million Palestinians displaced as a result of the 1948 ethnic cleansing of Palestine. Such events are held frequently in the New York metropolitan area, with Arabs and Muslims consistently denied entry and attendance often limited to Jews, the only people the organizers of these events will arrange property sales with.

During the Nakba, the ethnic cleansing of Palestine in 1948, Zionist terror groups murdered 15,000 Palestinians, violently displaced 750,000 Palestinians from their homeland, and destroyed 500 Palestinian villages. The zionist entity has been encouraging Jews to emigrate and occupy this stolen land ever since. Under the zionists’ Law of Return, all Jews are granted the right to emigrate to and become citizens of the zionist entity. By contrast, Palestinians are prohibited from returning to the homeland almost a million Palestinians were violently displaced from, in flagrant violation of UN Resolution 194 and many subsequent resolutions over the past 76 years. Real estate agents “based in “israel”, with no legal presence in the U.S. like My Israel Home are constantly soliciting New Jersey Jews, along with others across the U.S. to buy property in the zionist entity, profiting off of settler colonialism even as the “israeli” occupation forces continue their genocidal project in the West Bank and in Gaza.

“Real estate companies like My Israel Home profit from stolen land sales and are a strategic part of the zionist entity’s settler colonial plans, encouraging zionist Jews to emigrate to a land many have never before set foot in while Palestinians ethnically cleansed in 1948 and their descendants are denied the right to return to their homeland.” said Tova of Palestinian Assembly for Liberation-Awda NY/NJ, who served on the Stolen Land event organizers a demand letter to cease and desist, compiled by the PAL Commission On War Crimes, Justice, Reparations, And Return describing all the ways the hosts are in violation of state, federal, and international law and thus in legal jeopardy by holding these stolen land real estate events.

The protest was sponsored by West Orange for Humanity, American Muslims for Palestine NJ Chapter, NJ Anti-Zionist Minyan, Palestinian Assembly for Liberation-Awda NY/NJ (PAL-Awda NY/NJ), Party for Socialism and Liberation NJ, and Teaneck for Palestine.
