On Tuesday, October 7th, the Green Party of New Jersey GPNJ) and
Madelyn Hoffman will hold their rescheduled book launch for
Hoffmanʼs recently published book, “A Fleeting Glance: How One Look
Across an Apartheid Wall can Change Lives”, Europe Books. The event
will take place at the HUUB, 3547 Cleveland Street, Orange. The
Green Party of New Jersey invites the public to attend. Hear from the
author, Madelyn Hoffman, voices of Palestinians, Lily Benavides for
Governor 2025 and more.
This date coincides with the beginning of the 3rd year of this current
phase of the Israeli/US genocide against the Palestinian people, both in
Gaza with the announced intention of destroying Gaza City and ever
intensifying illegal settler aggression on the occupied West Bank.
Attendees will hear from Palestinian voices and US activists in the
struggle to end the US/Israeli genocide and erasure of the Palestinian
people. All proceeds from the sales of the book will be sent to a family
on the West Bank (the inspiration for the book) and a family struggling
daily to survive on the Gaza Strip.
As the ongoing genocide crosses into yet another year, there are so
many signs of increasing international opposition from the Sumud
Flotilla, to the proposed Uniting for Peace resolution at the United
Nations and growing anger at Israelʼs constant violation of international
law.
“Apartheid is against international law,” offered author and activist
Madelyn Hoffman, who visited the West Bank in December 2013 and
wrote the book based on what she saw and experienced. “I never
thought that this book, initially written for young adults, would be so
relevant when published.”
All proceeds from the authorʼs sales of this book will go to Palestinians
and their families, one family still living in Gaza under inhumane
conditions, including forced starvation, and the other family, the one
which inspired this book, living in continually deteriorating conditions in
Al-Khalil on the West Bank.
“Unfortunately, it isnʼt hard to see how apartheid can so dehumanize
the other that they feel empowered to throw garbage on the heads of
their so-called enemy, then go from that to attempting to destroy their
lives completely. Former defense minister and indicted war criminal
Joʼav Gallant called Palestinians ´human animalsʼ and then ordered
there to be no water, no electricity nor other necessities allowed into
the Gaza Strip. This full-fledged tragedy for the world and for humanity
is unfolding in real time. Those with the power to stop it are only egging
it on. I hope the message of my book will provide an opportunity for
dialogue about an international response of solidarity by the people.”
