For almost 2 years NJ’s protectors of First Amendment Rights, supporters of humanity and peace, opponents of genocide, opponents of US support for genocide and warfare perpetrated by Israel against the Palestinian people of Gaza have relentlessly protected NJ from an attempt led by NJ Democrats in the legislature – hip joined to extremist Trumpian Republicans to make it basically illegal to criticize Israel in NJ. The Democrats, in servitude to pro-Israel lobby groups, committees and individuals have tried to establish a definition of “antisemitism” that includes opposition to Israel policies against the Palestinian people. FightBackBetter has organized alongside 100s of committees and organizations to successfully – for now – thwart the passage of fascist measures of IHRA codifying the false conflation of Israel with Judaism.
The laws Democrats have pushed would call for automatic elimination of state funding to any public school. municipality, non-profit deemed to be inadequate in perpatration of anti-Palestinian and pro-Israel perceptions. The laws will be used to justtify police action toward our democratic rights to protest for an end to persecution of Palestinians and result in legal action by pro-Israel lobbyist and legal groups that can paralyze our courts and further intimidate those citizens and residents of the state who hold views counter to unbridled loyalty to Israel.

The dangers that NJ’s Demcoratic Party leadership have exposed us to, at this time of massive repression and outright summary street executions by the Trump administration are clearly delineated by the case of Paterson NJ resident Leqaa Kordia, a Palestinian student whose detention was the result of being targeted for her protests against genocide at Columbia University in New York CIty,
Leqaa Kordia has relations in Gaza and over 100 of her family have been murdered by Israel. Israel is pushing the death penalty through its legislature – for Palestinian prisoners – it is severely likely Leqaa Lordia will be executed by Israel if she is allowed to be sent there. The Trump Adminisrtation is currently using a private jet to illegally deport Palestinians to Israel controlled West Bank. Like Leqaa Lordia, they were targeted for their legally protected FIrst Amendment Free Speech rights – which apply to all on US soil – not just US citiaens.
The legislative Democrats in Texas recognize the oppression of Leqaa Kordia. They have labelled her a political prisoner and call for her release. Here in NJ the legislative Democrats have not mentioned Leqaa Kordia’s name. They have only tried to pass laws that provide the basis for her oppression over her protected free speech rights to criticize Israel or to espouse any protected thought and speech per the US constitution.
Leqaa Kordia being exposed to death camp ICE conditions has been suffering from a fever in recent days and she has been hospitalized. Her family and advocates currently do not even know where she is.
There are reports that now after we fought hard since June 2024 against the fascist attempts of NJ Democrats united with the most extreme street murder supporting Republicans in the NJ state legislature to reintroduce IHRA codification. Democrats collaborating with Trump to push a Trump-ian inspured IHRA law in NJ at the time of great violence and fascism coming from Trump across the nation including in NJ shows that NJ Democrats do not intend to protect our children, our families, our communities and us from fascism – NJ Democratic Party through IHRA codification intends to collaborate in the violence toward us – including the current horrendous violence toward Leqaa Kordia.

Leqaa Kordia – Say Her Name! Like your Texas Democratic Party legislative colleagues: correctly identify her as a political prisoner and demand her immediate release and for deportation proceedings to be withdrawn. How dare you sit back and watch and aid the Trump administration to carry out what loolks to be the slow motion systemic execution of Leqaa Kordia – based upon the fascist fallacioujs premises of codified IHRA which drove her capture and how dare you prepare to introduce such fascism again in NJ! The genoce of Gaza is now on our streets and NJ legislature is aiding Trump and Israel to persecute opponents of impunity for the genocidal Israel regime.
