NJ Responding to the US escalation to lethal force response to defense of immigrants from illegal ICE repression NJ ICE Breaking News N. 7
NJ has launched so far 3 responses to the developments with the Trump administration’s apparent escalation toward lethality as punctuated by the summary street execution by a federal police murderer. The ICE murderer fled the scene in his vehicle after pumping deadly bullets into the head of Renee Nicole Good as she tried to flee armed assailants attacking her. Trump’s immediate response was probably detrimental to ICE’s defense from the legal responses to the summary execution. He claimed it as a legitimate action by ICE without investigation and he is showing a total lack of understanding even of common police protocol (often violated) not to shoot people if the police believe they are fleeing. The attorneys will have a field day since his statement will be used to show that lethal force is intentional US policy now. His statement was clearly an announcement of support for greater lethality in the ICE crackdown including its response to community defense operations. It is tantamout to a declaration of war against our communities.
There are 3 initiatives already in NJ to respond to the lethal hit against a community response volunteer in Minneapolis, Minnesota – just one mile from where George Floyd was murdered by police on May 20, 2020. Here is a run down of three NJ responses:

The escalation to lethality of the ICE crackdown means that if the NJ legislature fails to approve the complete Immigrant Trust Act package by January 13, that means there is bipartisan complicity in the future harms and actual murders of US citizens and residents coming to NJ in the next stage of US operations. The supporters of immigrants and democracy and nonviolence are mobilized today for Senate committee hearings and the vote in both chambers must take place between now and January 13 – or there will definitely be blood on the hands of both NJ Democratic and Republican parties and their office holders in the state legislature. Stay tuned for more information about hte mobilizations next week for hopefully the final push to get this passed!
