Local Vigil and Rally Efforts Across New Jersey Highlight Call for Ceasefire and Justice for Gaza

Several organizations across New Jersey came together this past weekend to hold vigils and rallies, calling for an immediate ceasefire and raising awareness about the ongoing violence in Gaza. From Montclair to Leonia, communities gathered to show their support for Palestinians and demand justice.

Montclair for Peace organized a vigil at 2 Church Street from 4-5 PM, rallying under the powerful slogan “Ceasefire Now.” The event was part of the group’s ongoing efforts to call attention to the need for an immediate end to the genocide in Gaza and to urge greater action for peace globally.

South Jersey for Gaza held its vigil on Saturday from 12-2 PM at the Krispy Kreme in Collingswood. Participants held signs and waved flags, alerting the many drivers passing by about the genocide being committed in Gaza. The event served as a reminder to the local community about the ongoing humanitarian crisis.

Trenton DSA hosted its bimonthly protest at the Trenton Farmer’s Market from 12-2 PM. The group continued its push for greater awareness around the Gaza conflict, joining other local activists in calling for a change in U.S. policy toward Israel and Palestine.

The SOMA for Palestine Collective held its weekly rally at the Maplewood City Building on Sunday from 3-4 PM. In a break from their usual routine, the group decided to march into town, handing out flyers that called for the boycott of Israeli goods as part of the broader movement for Palestinian rights.

Lastly, Leonia Peace Action held a vigil on Sunday from 4-4:30 PM at the intersection of Broad Avenue and Fort Lee Road in Leonia, New Jersey. Participants gathered in solidarity with the people of Gaza, demanding an end to the violence and highlighting the need for peace.

These events are part of a broader effort by grassroots organizations across the state to amplify the call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and to shed light on the humanitarian crisis unfolding in the region. Through peaceful protests, rallies, and vigils, activists are sending a clear message: justice and peace are essential, and the time for action is now.
