Press Event / Speak Out for Afghani Residents Threatened by Travel Bans, Exec Orders:
Wed 2pm Highland Park NJ
4 years ago Interfaith-RISE grew dramatically, as we responded to our nation’s call to help support Afghans who were put at risk by the end of our nearly 20 years of war and ‘engagement’ in Afghanistan. Regardless of how one felt about the actions of the U.S. in Afghanistan there was a shared humanitarian concern that the tide of power had quickly turned and allies were at risk.
Interfaith-RISE, and others, helped thousands (probably a couple of thousand) people resettle in New Jersey. Those individuals (mostly) now have Green Cards, and they are, by rights, able to invite their spouse and children here. However, the new Travel Ban is blocking them. There are other people who NEVER GOT TO SAFETY, DESPITE HAVING SPECIAL IMMIGRANT VISA STATUS FOR THEIR INVOLVEMENT WITH U.S. TROOPS. We are concerned about all this and more.
Join us, at 2pm on Wednesday the 20th, for a time to voice our concerns about various Afghan matters, to state our support for Afghans here, and to call on elected officials to stand up and to speak out and to vote for Afghan-friendly immigration/refugee policies.
peace, seth
