Somerset County Assistant Prosecutor Dangled False Accusation for 3-Weeks
Why did Somerset County Assistant Prosecutor Christopher Lyons dangle the charge over this editor’s head for 3 weeks after: “AP Lyons who advised that he did not believe that this incident constituted bribery, . . .”
That should have been the end of it. What is unexplained is the second half of that statement:
“. .. but that I needed to contact the Office of Attorney General to report the incident.” Police Report from March 19, Appproved March 20
Why did he send it up to OAG? No stipulation. He wanted to make sure everyone else in NJ agreed? He does not trust his own judgment? He got a call from a politician or was ordered by someone who got a call from a politician? This is not ordinary response to a crank (Freiman) who made a false accusation. Was it because he is a politician that the accusation was dangled longer? Was this preferable treatment to the powerful? Answers are needed!
I was told on March 31 by a Montgomery Cop that the matter was sent to OAG to determine if there would be charges but nothing about the part where Lyons said it was not bribery on March 19!
So for over 2 weeks I was wondering when the cops were going to come pick me up based on the false bribery accusation by Freiman. The determination that Somerset made that it was not bribery was withheld for 3 weeks. Why did they send it to OAG to make sure the politicians were ok with the determination – to give them opportunity to influence OAG to bring the charges?
Was the psychological stress to this editor just collateral casualty ? Was this psychological warfare that all of the responsible parties brought to my family, to those who value my advocacy work and the community that will be devastated by the growing loss of free expression rights in NJ? Is this a taste of the new IHRA Dystopian NJ?
What did OAG do in 3 weeks? Did they ever call back? I got the impression from the police report no – and then if not – why did Montgomery and Somerset just wait on this finding of no crime? How long would this have dangled had I not raised a ruckus over it? Was it reviewed there? Would I have been charged? Why did Somerset and Montgomery neglect to call sooner?
Where is the accountability for creating 3 weeks of mayhem in my life on something already determined to be a bogus accusation by Somerset County AP Lyons?
While I will probably never know and would not trust any answers from those who engaged in this false legal harm brought to me, I will continue to insist on truthful answers.
