RU Unions Demand Opposition to Trump’s Attacks on Rutgers (4/24), Apr 30 Non Citizen Student Support Meeting
We went to the Rutgers Board of Governors meeting (4/24) to ask that they stand up and say no to Trump’s attacks on higher ed. Specifically, we want Rutgers to protect our students, faculty, and staff from ICE raids; to protect DEI; to defend academic freedom and free speech on campus.
Editor’s note: FightBackBetter echoes the demands of the faculty and adjunct unions to the Board of Governors. We also extend the very same demands to the entire NJ legislative body, Governor Murphy, the full slate of Gubernatorial candidates and the full slate of Assembly candidates in 2025 and the Senate candidates for the Paterson LD 35 – as well as the NJ Congressional members: You all need to break your silence and stand up to the Trump attack on Rutgers University, its students and faculty and its place as one of the crown jewels of NJ’s public university system.
The rest of us in NJ that stand for humanity we need to make clear that we will leverage our vote in the Gubernatorial and Assembly contests to oppose repressive IHRA narrative driving these attacks – and we too must insist that legislators and candidates get off their tush and fight Trump’s attacks on Rutgers and other NJ universities.
As far as all of those at the “Hands Off” rallies – How about a statewide Hands of Rutgers, Hands off Academic Freedom, Hands Off Our Students – Push Back the Trump Attack!
