Patch brings news while rest of NJ media brings snooze on NSPM7.
On Wednesday November 12, from 4- 6 pm, the newly formed No Complicity NJ Committee hed what they called a “Public Hearing in the Street” to testify about and denounce what they consider the “repressive” National Security Presidential Memorandum 7 (NSPM7) signed by President Trump on September 25. The event took place outside the FBI complex in Newark on the corner of McCarter Highway and Centre Place. That location was selected due to the NSPM7 specified participation of the Joint Terrorist Task Force (JTTF) in efforts to disrupt dissenting movements challenging US policies and NJ police participation in the JTTF is coordinated from the FBI complex.
The No Complicity NJ Committee calls upon NJ Governor Murphy, Governor Elect Sherrill and Attorney General Platkin to protect NJ citizens and residents from what they call “repressive harms” of NSPM7. They want the prohibition directed by the Office of Attorney General toward NJ police that forbids participation in federal immigration law enforcement to any participation in NSPM7 implementation.
The No Complicity NJ is supported by these organizations currently, list in formation: Green Party of NJ, NJ Peace Action Political Activism Committee, Peoples Organization for Progress.
The event also received participation and support from Black Alliance for Peace, NJ, Uhuru Solidarity Movement, Black is Back Coalition, Resistencia en Acción NJ, COSECHA NJ and a performance by the Solidarity Singers.
Testimony from event included:
Bob Witanek, Editor of FightBackBetter
Bennet Zurofsky, Esq.
