More International Coverage for the Movement to Stop Illegal Settlement Sales Event at Teaneck – Now Mondoweiss!

Fightbackbetter.com is going to stay on the issue of March 10, 2024 in Teaneck – this was a truly historic occurrence and we need to mine it for its full significance and the full potential to build forward to the next set of accomplishments!

The Guardian has published a detailed report of the March 10 protest against the illegal settler stolen land operation in Teaneck NJ and the publication clearly laid out the issue and the illegality of the fraudulent sales operation.
This is a major development and represents a total victory for our efforts to struggle to denounce and oppose the coordination of illegal sale of stolen property in Teaneck NJ. They are attempting to proffer false deed – not worth the paper they are printed on – for land that was literally stolen by Israel backed settlers with support of police and military and other government forces – expenses covered by USA tax payers – forcing Palestinian owners from their land and property often through violence, threats, bulldozing or blowing up of houses, massive extreme measures. These are the properties being proffered. If such false paper were sold out of a nursery or a police station or the White House or in this case out of a Synagogue it would merit protest. As the Guardian reported:
“Israel’s settlements in the West Bank are widely considered illegal under international law. The US recently restored its position that they are “inconsistent” with international law, a position it had abandoned under the Trump administration.”
All of the hiding of the issue behind accusations that anti-Genocide protesters were targeting a Synagogue – there are plenty of Synagogues every where that are not being protested because they are not in the Fake Estate fraudulent deed business. The location is not the issue – the activity was the reason for the protest. The world knows what is happening is illegal and all of the arguments made by the supporters of this illegal land operation raised issues that had nothing to do with the reasons for the protests. Clearly and simply – it was an advertised tour of a dealer in Israeli settler stolen property – during a genocide it is almost like they wanted protests. What were they thinking?
And o boy did Teaneck roll out the red carpet to protect the deal. Massive police involvement in shuttering multiple roads – just to protect an illegal land operation. Minimally the town should have asked the sponsors of the illegal sales operation for a bond to cover potential liability and a security fee. Why should everyone – the taxpayer – pay to back these land gangster front men? Is there going to be a report from Teaneck as to how much the town ponied up to protect the operation?
The protest and the article in the Guardian is not the end of this! The band aid has been torn off. No longer will it be tolerated that resources are expended to defend this stolen land op. That religious locations provide haven for the criminal operations does not mean the criminals get religious worship rights protection – you still have to be lawful.
This is the second major international news publication of our struggles in NJ – in Teaneck NJ more precisely. Recently Intercept reported upon the very same Teaneck where US Congressman Gottheimer has been bullying Teaneck High School Students who have been diligently working to end the genocide of the Palestinian people by educating the student body and organizing them to walk out to protest the US – Israel genocide.
The NJ media – EXCEPT FOR FIGHTBACKBETTER.COM – has not fully covered NJ’s deep and highly organized nascent uprising against genocide.
These two international reports – as well as our participation at FightBackBEtter.com – sends a message that controlling US and NJ mainstream media does NOT control the flow of information – not any more – if it ever did.
And it is a tremendous defeat to the defenders of the illegal land dealings that in spite of all of the efforts to smear – and threaten and insult – those of us in this struggle for Palestine – we are successfully and effectively communicating to the entire planet – what is going on in our struggle here in NJ and that sends a message to the planet that we in the belly here in the USA are fully engaged and challenging the genocide machine, the war machine and the genocidal war machine with great effectiveness.
Furthermore the roots of this coverage – the town of Teaneck – it is where the struggle was largely initiated by teenagers at Teaneck High School and the repercussions are ONLY STARTING to percolate around the planet – and we are only ready for our next even more effective step!

In a video that has racked up 1.9 million views since 29 February, Rich Siegel, a 65-year old Jewish resident from Teaneck condemned the planned event at a recent township council meeting. “There’s a genocide going on,” he said. “People in this community are in deep mourning … What this real estate event is going to do is it’s going to fan the flames.”
Siegel attended Sunday’s event. “I think that Zionism is Jewish supremacy and Jewish entitlement and I think that this event is an expression of that,” he told the Guardian. “It’s obscene to have an Israeli real estate event while Israel is committing genocide in Gaza.”
The New Jersey chapters of the Council on American-Islamic Relations and American Muslims for Palestine have called for a federal investigation into the event, saying that it is “deeply concerning to see anyone use a house of worship to allegedly flout international law by selling off stolen land”.

Protesters on Sunday called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, where Israeli forces have killed more than 30,000 Palestinians in the last five months.
Draped in keffiyehs and Palestinian flags and joined alongside families with children and dogs, protestors chanted “Settlers, settlers, what do you say? How much land did you steal today?”

Protesters rejected charges of antisemitism. “There is a direct connection to sales like this being held here and the violence that Palestinians are facing in the West Bank,” said Adam Weissman, spokesperson for Northern New Jersey’s Jewish Voice for Peace and Teaneck for Palestine spokesperson.
“Ultimately the goal of these events is obviously to make money but the synagogues are hosting them as an ideological project with the intent of facilitating the ethnic cleansing of Palestine.”
“I’m Jewish. I’m not antisemitic,” said Stephen Shalom of Montclair, New Jersey. “Jews believe two things of relevance here. One is that thou shalt not steal and it’s not antisemitic to say that. And two, we believe in social justice so dispossession is a crime,” Shalom added.
Hala Al Ahmed, a 53-year-old resident from Boonton, New Jersey, brought what she said was her grandfather’s original Palestinian land deeds to the demonstration to “show the world that this is stolen land”, she said. “This is 150 years old,” she continued, waving yellowed pages protected behind a plastic film.
