Black, Brown, Immigrant, Muslim, LGBTQ: Communities Targeted by MAGA Hate Have No Place in US Armed Forces! GI HOT LINE: 877-447-4487
I oppose any war, invasion, or military aggression. I am especially critical of United States, which has a long history of such actions. I also reject military spending — that money could instead fund universal healthcare, free education, and housing for everyone, with plenty left over.
As a person of color, I oppose the draft, which could be imposed at any time now. The young people most likely to be sent to fight are often the most vulnerable. Young people of color are frequently persuaded by empty promises that military service will secure their future or pay for their education — promises that too often prove false. Those who survive war rarely return unchanged; many suffer lasting mental-health problems, and governments often abandon them once they are no longer useful. People of color need to understand the reality of their children serving in the military — they’re the bait. Why would any parent let their child risk their life for a country that doesn’t care about their well-being? As a mother, I did everything I could to stop my son from being recruited: I read, learned, and talked to him about it. He resisted, but as a parent it was my moral duty to tell him the truth about military service and try to stop it from happening by all means necessary! Fortunately my dear son is safe now from such danger.
Today is more crucial than ever that we oppose our young people from joining the military. We should teach our children to be conscientious objectors and to refuse fighting in wars. We must keep building peace at home and in our communities.
I cannot understand why any person of color would participate in actions that harm their own communities. Doing so not only aids the oppressor but also attacks already oppressed people. It’s shocking how many Black and Latino individuals have chosen to work with ICE, seemingly trading their principles for pay. Is it worth killing innocent people on the other side of the world? Is it worth abusing and torturing hard-working people whose only “crime” was crossing a border—many of whom are descendants of the original peoples of Las Américas? We are Americans too. Things would be different if the Indigenous peoples of this continent—Abya Yala, also known as Las Américas —were fully recognized as natives.
Two news stories should communicate clearly to immigrants and folks of color – the US Armed Forces is not a place for us. It was reported by the UK Guardian that ICE would be patrolling a USMC (Marines) graduation ceremony looking for family members of the inductee soldiers to abduct. The other is a report that Hegseth’s staff member that Trump would not want to stand next to an African American woman officer at a ceremony. Hegseth the Drunk secretary of Defense with a record of dishonorable conduct including adultery and other violations when he was in National Guard is denying promotions of Black and Women officers. He has also imposed religious doctrine urging soldiers to give their lives for Armageddon in Iran and acting like a fool preacher – embracing mass murder as if it is a sign of religious devotion. He also led a chant of “death to Muslims” at a veterans event when he was super drunk.
The Armed Forces are currently absolutely wrought with white‑supremacist, Christian‑nationalist leaders at the very top, and they are purging officers who disagree. Reportedly, officers who are telling the truth about the dangers of the war of aggression — Hegseth and Trump are going to slaughter U.S. soldiers — are being targeted. This is happening against the nation and people of Iran and the nations and peoples of the Middle East. Indeed, dissent among the troops is spreading, as they refer to the Drunk Breath’s Pentagon rebranding as “Department of War Crimes.”
To quote a popular Hollywood film on the topic of racism, my message to everyone and anyone in the US armed forces AND ESPECIALLY immigrants, folks of color, Muslims, LGBTQ, all the folks that MAGA hates – my message to you loud and clear is:
GET OUT!
NO! Young people of color should not be sent to war — especially when they and their families already live under the threat of discrimination, deportation, and systemic neglect at home. Institutions profit from their suffering which is even a graver injustice. We should expose and oppose systems that benefit from sending vulnerable young people to war and demand that resources be invested in peace, care, and community support instead

If you know ANYONE in the service – regardless of whether you know their politics, right now the best way to help them is to start off by sending them the GI Hot Line. There are decisions that can be made at any point. The orders to war are illegal – it is an illegal war and the repression against people on US streets by ICE and other federal agencies are also criminal operations so participating in violent repression of people on US streets is also illegal. You have a right to refuse illegal orders but that does not mean there is no risk and you can be harmed in some ways if you do assert your right. But you also need to evaluate the harms you will certainly face from any participation in the illegal slaughter the US and Israel are currently carrying out in the MIddle East and the massive tragedy of the resulting economic disaster. Participants are responsible for their actions legally and ethically – “just following orders” everybody knows that is not a defense. So at any point decide not to be a willful criminal participant in US war making – domestically or abroad – you can refuse the order and start a process that removes you from the participation. YOU can be punished, dishonorably discharged, jailed by the Armed forces. But you can avoid taking on the harm, potential personal injury and death and the killing of others. The fist step – call the GI hotline and find out how the process works! Please if you have loved ones or people you care about who are enlisted in the US Armed Forces, send them a personal note how you care about them and give them, the GI hotline number TODAY: GI HOTLINE: 877-447-4487
