No War with Russia! DC 02/05/22.

Much of the national coordination of the antiwar efforts heralds from organizations with bases in DC but with organizers from throughout the country.

While perspectives vary, there is a collaborative relationship between the following organizations – among many others – that encourages movement building and coordinated events.  Some of the many groups that are instrumental in playing such a national role include:

ANSWER Coalition
Black Alliance for Peace
CODE PINK
Popular Resistance
United National Antiwar Coalition
US Peace Council

In addition to a protest at the White House on February 5th,  some of these organizations coordinated a national on-line event – the video is provided below.

Additional pictures from the January 5 protest in DC and from other protests around the US are at this Code Pink link and at this great picture collection from the DC protest, compliments of Ted Majdosz.

The national coordination group regularly schedules national zoom / phone conference events to help facilitate gathering the input from the grassroots participants from throughout the US and world.

Proposed Action Plan

The following are some suggested steps:

Initial Launch Discussions  Discussions can be in person and via zoom, etc.

Draft Statement of unity against US war and preparation for war including provision of weapons and troops to the Ukraine,

Mobilization at car caravan and rallies at US Senator and Represenatives offices opposing US war on Russia.

Issue Responses to events as they occur and escalate.

Create Network of organizations and individuals dedicated to joining this fight.

Staff with volunteers and ideally stipended staff to continue forward opposition to war.

Potential Organizational and Individual Resources

Approach and engage the organizations in DC area to participate.

Funding

Critical to the success of this effort will be staffing a fully supported effort .  While we can likely sustain an initial action without a significant budget – to continue forward we might want to consider some sort of fundraising efforts to sustain expenses for one or more staff to coordinate moving the effort forward.
