Ice on the Ground but No Cold Feet for Minneapolis Anti-War Forces

A significant showing for frigid Minneapolis on February 5 for a unified antiwar march to say NO to US war with Russia.

The event was initiated by the Minnesota Peace Action Coalition and endorsed by member organizations including
the AntiWar Committee , the Women Against the Military Machine (WAMM)  and Veterans for Peace Chapter 27  .

There were over 70 participants despite the temperature of 20 degrees and brisk wind that made it feel like 0 degrees F.

There are multiple photos on the MN Peace Action Coalition Facebook page.

The protesters conducted a neighborhood march including to the offices of US Senater Amy Klobuchar who has been instrumental in promoting Biden’s war agenda regarding the Ukraine.

There was also representation from Twin Cities Justice for Jamar (https://www.facebook.com/TCC4J/events/?ref=page_internal) to talk about the afternoon protest of the Tuesday police murder of Amir Locke. Over a thousand protestors marched through downtown Minneapolis, including several participants of this protest against US war on Russia.

Proposed Action Plan

The following are some suggested steps:

Initial Launch Discussions  Discussions can be in person and via zoom, etc.

Draft Statement of unity against US war and preparation for war including provision of weapons and troops to the Ukraine,

Mobilization at car caravan and rallies at US Senator and Represenatives offices opposing US war on Russia.

Issue Responses to events as they occur and escalate.

Create Network of organizations and individuals dedicated to joining this fight.

Staff with volunteers and ideally stipended staff to continue forward opposition to war.

Potential Organizational and Individual Resources

Approach and engage the organizations in area of Minneapolis and throughout Minnesota stressing the need for unity to act against the possible pending disaster of US war with Russia.

Funding

Critical to the success of this effort will be staffing a fully supported effort .  While we can likely sustain an initial action without a significant budget – to continue forward we might want to consider some sort of fundraising efforts to sustain expenses for one or more staff to coordinate moving the effort forward.
