On April 5 in Washington DC outside the OAS compound, supporters of democracy will be demanding that OAS and USA respect democracy and avoid any attempt to interfere with Ecuador’s April 11 presidential run off elections.  It is not up to OAS and UAS to decide – it is up to the Ecuadorean people.  We intend to communicate a message not only that we are opposed to any OAS interference – but we intend to work to thwart any such attempts to intervene like OAS did in Bolivia – in the das and months ahead.

All Invited to Join the

Protest to Demand Non-Interference from US and OAS and for Support Democracy in Ecuador!
Monday, April 5, 1 pm
OAS Main Building

Hopefully this important action can encourage other  formations around the US and world to endorse on to this statement and to organize additional activities as part of this effort.

Leveraging the full potential of this event toward the effort to support democracy in Ecuador

A strong turn out not only communicates opposition but demonstrates our organizational capacity that could help warn off against foreign meddling.

Success depends upon a good local – DC area organizing effort including communicating to the organizations likely to be supportive – and also assuring that any and all logistics support is tightened.  We also need commitments from strong supporters in the DC area including up to NYC and NJ to be able to travel to DC and participate.

We need to thoroughly assess our capabilities for success in DC and we need to also reach out to other national struggles – right now in particular the Haitian opposition to the dictatorship the US is supporting there.  They held a similar protest on March 15 and we should invite their support, participation and representation.

Hopefully we can get strong organizational and individual commitment to do the extra organizing work.   Effort should be made to have the event announced from blog and organizational sites as well as to be frequently shared.  Of course remember the personal approach – old school – is often the most effective way to engage greater participation.
